The pandemic that is spreading rampantly around the globe has caused the temporary closure of many art institutions, including art museums, concert halls, theatres, art galleries, etc. Despite hitting the financial stability of the art market, this sudden disappearance of art in real life also, surprisingly, created more digital possibilities for viewing and creating artworks in this new era. In this project, I will use information gathered from social media and news to discuss the role of art in this global COVID-19 response and its effect on people’s mental health and social wellbeing. I will also analyze the relationship between body, mind, emotion, and community from an anthropological perspective, using the “three bodies” idea of Nancy Scheper-Hughes and Margaret Lock.
This is a collection of artworks created during the time of coronavirus, showing the creativity and outstanding talent of artists around the world. The artworks collected here include but not limited to music, dance, short films, parodies, paintings, sculptures, pictures, etc. Newly created works will be updated and all the works should be properly cited.
